Figure Plant

A very collaborative, high-end custom design and fabrication company
working principally in the marketing, promotion, and event industries. We
flex our problem-solving skills on a daily basis across a broad array of
fabrication processes. We build awesome things, frequently on very short
timelines, with an uncompromising commitment to quality and on-time
delivery. We are seeking a Technical Designer to become a member of our
team.


Position Overview

A Technical Designer at Figure Plant is involved throughout the life of a
project, from initial estimates to delivery, and sometimes installation
support. Principally, they are responsible for determining the fabrication
approach for each project and developing shop drawings to communicate with
the shop manager and shop team.


Responsibilities

Create shop drawings, truck pack and crating drawings, installation
drawings, and other drawings as needed
Collaborate with other members of the team to determine project design and
build approaches
Create CNC files
Assist with project estimation
Material and hardware ordering and speccing
Vendor coordination and management
Contribute to the advancement of our standards and capabilities
Perform site surveys

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Highly skilled in Solidworks (or equivalent 3D CAD platform and willing to
learn Solidworks)
Ability to create drawings to communicate construction techniques to shop
fabricators, external vendors, clients, designers, engineers, and venue
officials
Broad knowledge of methods and materials, including construction techniques
in wood, metal, plastics for the scenic, display, and exhibit industries
Ability to assist with project estimation
Proficiency with G-Suite
Weekend and evening hours are sometimes required


ALSO HELPFUL

CNC programming and operation experience
Experience with Thermwood Qcontrol, Thermwood Control nesting, and Vcarve
pro software
Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D operations for processing of files for in-house CNC
and vendor use
Versatile and broad CAD platform experience to work with 3D files coming in
from clients in other formats
Experience with logistics and shipping of scenic and display items
