I'd try asking the bike store for junk inner tubes, and see if I could stretch one over the grey. But that's because I haven't got $20.

New tires are around $20 each, delivered. But, you also need a special tool. The economy version I found was $30. At $70, we are certainly motivated to at least try the black markers, even if we need to re-coat the tread for each showing.
