[SML] power line clock question

Mentioning the series wound motor, I just found out that brushed motors
are common on large appliances in the UK and possibly other 50Hz
countries. That must put an awful lot of noise on the power lines there.

I understand it's because induction motors are so much bigger on 50 Hz
than 60Hz the brushed motor is cheaper.  Amazing.
