The reason is if you happen to carry it in at some point from contact with it somewhere else, it could stay there until students or orthers come back in for work and catch it and start spreading it again.

I'm still working, teaching mathematics online and having Google Meets
with my students.  I'm allowed to use a classroom in the math building
so I can use a whiteboard and the fast internet.  They won't let me
into the theater even though I'd be the only one there.  Blair has a
reduced janitorial staff.  Why would they need to disinfect if I'm the
only person there?  The positive side is that I have more time to work
on our house.
