[SML] Ceiling Fans on Battens

He wants to start the show by blowing dust and dirt into the audience's faces? You appear to be thinking this through much better than he is.

Thanks Nigel, he wants the fans to come in, top of show, to move detritus, already telling him this may not work. The fans fly out until the end of the show and come back in. I am concerned the fans will cause the battens to move side to side. I am thinking the battens will need to be tied off.

I may be misinterpreting what the designer is trying to achieve, but 
first thought is to remind the designer that it is a stage production 
and an overused film cliche is not appropriate. That is unlikely to go 
down well though, so try suggesting fan style rotating gobos instead - 
far more practical and probably a lot cheaper.
