Yeah, ask Herrick!
I actually don't have a whole ton of experience with LED tape. The
last project I was hands-on with LED tape was 6ish years ago, and that
only needed to stand up for a few weeks.
I will say a lot of my "major leagues" problems are solved with,
surprise surprise, money. Although I don't have hands-on experience
with them, if I were to order LED tape for my current employer, I'd
likely go with something from City Theatrical or ENTTEC or other
name-brand theatrical supplier.
Heat is also a major killer. Mounting the tape on wood or plastic
doesn't provide anywhere for the heat to go. Mounting on aluminum
provides heat sinks for the tape. Less important for short-term
projects, more important for longer term / permanent installations.
But again, others have MUCH more experience than I do on this subject.
