Out of curiosity, what aspects of Dry Ice foggers do you not like? They
have some advantages like simplicity and low cost that you might want to
consider. Plus, the thickness and volume of fog that they output is
tough to beat.
I've used a LeMaitre LSG unit with a G300 & a large dewar of
low-pressure CO2. Its output was about equivalent to one 55-gallon drum
style dry ice fogger. For a roughly 30x50 foot area, the LSG covered it
medium-thick with fog. For comparison, shows done on the same stage but
with (2) 55-gallon dry-ice foggers (one on each side of the stage), the
area was covered in thick fog for about 2 minutes, then slowly tapered
off to about the 4-minute mark.
The *really* neat low foggers are liquid nitrogen powered, but I haven't
seen those used outside of Vegas and theme parks. They can really put
out some massive amounts of fog.
Like any low foggers, the area of thickest output only extends so far
beyond the unit. If possible, having some 6" or larger ducting to
several places across your coverage area will give you a more consistent
look.
