And then as I was thinking about it more. Depending on the material you are intending to make flame retarded you may need a different Flamex substance. They make Flamex for fabrics (even different ones depending on the type of fabric), raw wood, cardboard, etc.
Make sure you choose the right one.

In case what Kristi said isn't as clear as she meant it. You should use the Flamex PA as a primer coat on all surfaces of your set units and then paint your colors you need on your set.
Not just the back sides.

Yes - Flamex on all surfaces in the undercoat.
