Stephen,

I’ve seen it before where they have connected dimmers from a smaller architectural rack to stage circuits intended for work or rehearsal lighting. This allows the larger rack to remain offline, so you are not running the fans sucking in dirt.

Probably the best thing to do, if you don’t already have them, is to contact ETC and provide them with the serial number (job number) from the rack.
They can usually provide you with system drawings as long as the system was properly commissioned by ETC.

I’ve had to do this in a few places over the years where when the building owners had no idea who the original installer was or connected to the system.

Dimmer doubling is a possibility, but should give you 192 circuits, not 120.

Is it possible there's a second rack (perhaps disguised as an architectural or relay rack) that's driving those additional 24 circuits? Or perhaps some lights -- front of house or in the pit -- are driven by a separate rack?

Subject: [SML] ETC Sensor Dimmer rack running 120 circuits

As you may know, I began my return to educational theatre last week at a small university in central Iowa and have run across something that I am confused about regarding the lighting system. It appears to be an older ETC system with a single Sensor rack (96 dimmers). However, we are somehow driving discrete 120 circuits (there are a couple that are labeled as duplicates, but not enough to account for the 24 extra circuits)

Can anyone explain how this might work?
