Rather, it is the availability of dimmers themselves... we've transitioned away from them.  Though, I could just purchase two 4-channel portable dimmer packs plus 6 120v relays that would apply the 12v power supply. Though, I was hoping to make the device cordless, and using a 120v dimmer pack would not be viable.
I wonder if I could hack one of the cheap LED wash lights that are battery power.  If they were RGBW+UV then internally they will supply 6 channels of control.  I doubt I should use that directly to power the solenoids, which would need 12v at 0.5 amps.  So I should perhaps use an intermediary relay... a solid state one?
The idea of using extra dimmer packs is getting more attractive.
