Greetings and best wishes! I hope you all have a lovely tryptophan coma today. 

I met a gentleman at LDI who was wandering around with a device that he was selling for about $2k.  It seemed useful and unique but then i realized i had no way to test the quality and accuracy of the thing.  Naturally he has emailed me a sales pitch.  It is below.  Of course he misspelled “spectrometer” in the email subject.. so…  

It seems hand if a bit pricey.  what do you all think?

We use the computing power and large display on your phone/tablet to save the costs of reproducing this on the spectrometer. This allows us to offer a feature rich hand held spectrometer at an affordable price. It is fast and easy to use. You can even compare any two saved sources directly on your smart device!

FYI, the data can easily be transferred to free PC software which allows you to do additional manipulation and print professional reports. Feature rich advanced software which allows comparisons of multiple lamps/luminaires is available.
 
If you have occasion to use filters, we have a Transmittance Application which shows the Spectral Power Distribution before and after the filter/gel/diffuser. It calculates average transmittance and allows one to observe individual numbers for each wavelength. This is available from the Apple app store. Further niche market apps are under development. Look out for our TV/Broadcast and grow light apps coming soon.
