Hey everybody,
I know a number of you out there either route or drive trucks for a living, so am hoping somebody can help me out in a pinch. I need to find a route I can take a U-Haul van (which, while decidedly not a truck, is a commercial vehicle, so still can't go on NY parkways) on from my house in Mohegan Lake, NY to the Upper West Side tomorrow morning.
So far Apple, Google, and Waze's maps all offer to avoid some combination of highways, freeways, and/or toll roads, but still insist on trying to put me on at least one parkway, despite those restrictions. (Waze looked promising, but they stuck me briefly on the Hudson.
Navigon, the one expensive navigation app I have, has a mode that lets you select truck as your vehicle type, but it seems grossly misinformed, since it's trying to send me on the Taconic, Sprain, and/or Saw Mill.
Every other solution that explicitly supports truck routing is a commercial application that is prohibitively expensive for the once every couple years I might need it, and the one or two things in the App Store that are free are really free front ends to expensive services, so not actually free.
Does anybody know truck routes in Westchester and Manhattan who can help me map out a route the old fashioned way? Or have mapping software if I give you the addresses?
Thanks,Andy
