As a matter of fact...

The NETworks production of Dirty Dancing that I was on last spring (now
loading into Paul 3's theatre in Raleigh, I believe) uses a LOT of video
and projection for scenic elements in the show... The hard legs are FX-30
LED panels skinned with RP screen material, the tracking "garage" walls are
a big (7'x14') FX-11 LED panel that splits in half to open, and there are
four very large projectors (I don't know what brand/model) out front on the
balcony rail to spew visual "art" all over the rest of the neutral gray
set, changing its look to whatever the show needs for a given scene -
interiors, exteriors, skylines, a lake and field for the lift scene, an
animated waterfall, a burning bonfire... Whatever. And as cheesy as this
show may be, it *looks* friggin' phenomenal.

The day is coming, folks. Maybe not to replace "normal" lighting, but
certainly to supplement it.
