[SML] Alternative to Incandescent House Lights

I didn’t point this out but this theatre is only a year old. I am happy with Incandescents our facilities manager on the other hand is playing the “these are going to be phased out” card. (he may have also said something about the sky falling but I may not have got that part correct)I am doing preemptive research. I am currently thinking a nice Halogen lamp with the same lumens is a viable alternative. Thought if they didn’t have an exposed bulb. The idea that CFL can be dimmed is interesting.

Sincerely,

After a lot of testing, we decided that screw-base LED dimmable lamps aren't suited to theatrical dimming systems. Different-enough dimming technology, it seems, compared to the dimmers used in homes. We're looking down the same path, and there are a few companies building good fixtures with good LED dimming. Chauvet, Aquarii, Altman, Strand (though their unit isn't an exposed can), and Meteor. ETC is partners with GDS (UK-based), but I don't know if they're building fixtures here in the US yet. Others may also exist, but these are the ones I know of.

Hi all,

I am looking for options/experiences with replacing house light lamps with alternatives to incandescents. Our thrust space has china hat fixtures that currently use 150w Incandescent lamps. What is the collective lists experience with replacing these? My concerns is lumens and smooth dimer curve. Any one find a reasonable LED replacement lamp. They are medium screw base A19 type of lamp.

Have you checked:

https://www.1000bulbs.com/
http://www.sivallighting.com/

We've ordered bulbs, spools and stringers from both in the past, don't know if they have something that will fit your needs but worth a look.
