[SML] strange document handling

Of course.

That computer later made the Mercury News front page when at a SciFi
convention we had it set up in a hallway calling out to people to come
sign up to the L5 mailing list.  It was something like the first talking
computer the public had seen.

I'd also hacked the system so it could have moving graphics on the
screen at the same time as scrolling text and a text entry box for the
people to fill in their contact info.  Got a LOT of names out of that
convention.

A friend later borrowed that computer and when he was done tossed it in
the trash!  !!!!  I don't loan stuff anymore without a cash down payment.
