Quantum Theatre is a 25-year-old company in Pittsburgh with its founding
Artistic Director, Karla 

Boos, at the helm.  The company has made a wide-range of experimental work
since its inception and is especially known for its environmental nature,
staging every work in its four-show season in a place chosen to serve it,
rarely a theatre.  The works vary greatly, from world premieres to
contemporary plays from around the world; from classic plays to unusual
operas.  The company is significant for its achievements and reputation
among mid-sized arts organizations in Pittsburgh, and perhaps even
nationally.  Quantum functions with sophistication that might be surprising
for its size.  At every level - artists, staff, and board - the company
embodies dedication, persistence, and 

courage.  It has grown by more than 30% in the last three years, which have
been marked by largescale,

collaborative projects.  This is a tremendous time of opportunity for
Quantum and for the leader we seek, as we follow the directives of a
strategic plan to continue to grow and play a larger role in the development
of our sector in the region. 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

 

Organizational/Personnel Leadership 

 o Work with the Artistic/Executive Director and staff to establish and
track goals, individual responsibilities, and a project management calendar 

o Grow the capabilities of the current staff to realize new potentials 

o Create a greater regional presence for Quantum 

 

Delivering Quantum's artistic product; meeting earned income goals 

Candidate will direct key staff and board expertise with responsibility in
the following areas: 

 o Customer experience and satisfaction 

   - Develop pre- and post-show communication 

   - Secure the positive experience of patrons every night in a unique and
sometimes challenging performance atmosphere 

 

o Marketing, Branding 

   - Create and continuously oversee marketing budget 

   - Maintain and improve Quantum's brand locally, regionally, and
nationally; liaise with local press and develop national coverage 

 

o Sales 

   - Develop systems for maintaining and improving Patron Manager database
to drive sales 

   - Create online, social media, and written content; print/media
mailings/distribution  

   - Recruit/book group sales; maintain/grow university partnerships 

   - Direct creation of signage 

   - Purchase advertising 

 

o Community Relationships and Corporate Sponsorships 

   - Direct outreach, create events for business partners, affinity groups &
neighborhood orgs 

   - Place Quantum in front of new/diverse communities 

   - Engage individuals as advocates to increase diversity in audience,
board, and staff 

   - Create, sell, and steward benefits of corporate sponsorships, program
advertising 

   - Lead planning and execution of fundraising special events

 

Qualifications: 

   - Proven track record in theatre management 

  - Commitment to the mission of the company and values of the
Artistic/Executive Director (experience and/or appreciation for experimental
theatre of Quantum's impact and quality; knowledge of Quantum's history) 

   - Motivation - self, and ability to grow capacity of staff 

   - Resilient, organized, flexible, a risk-taker 

   - Ability to make decisions in the moment 

   - Desire to engage at all levels in the community 

 

Skills: 

   - Experience with Patron Manager CRM a plus (or similar audience-tracking
software) 

   - Quantum uses Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Publisher), Photoshop, Quickbooks 

   - Additional web-based programs include Patron Mail, Dropbox, Google
Drive, WordPress, social media apps FB, Twitter, Instagram 

 

Salary: Competitive, with full health insurance
