[SML] Pnuematic/Air Brake System

Mark,

The last time we did this it was pretty successful. Here is a drawing
for my air foot. Instead of lifting the wagon or lowering casters they
shove a carpet pad into the floor. By regulating the pressure you can
push down enough to hold the unit in place and not lift the unit. This
keeps the unit from shifting as they engage. We where  quite happy with
them.  We ran somewhere between 20 and 30 PSI 2" diameter 1" stroke
cylinders to the feet and that provided enough to hold the unit in place.

These where done with double acting cylinders. If you did them with
spring return cylinders they you would use half the air. Next time I do
this that is my plan.

The box design transfers the horizontal load to the sleeve rather than
tweaking the cylinder. I think it also reduces the amount of wiggle in
the system.

Depending on how many parts you have about this can be pretty
inexpensive. Or if you can spend much more. We used four feet on a unit
roughly the same size.
